Assessment Overview

The EBAS assessment evaluates ethical reasoning and professional judgment. It is a constructed response exam that measures your critical thinking given an ethical scenario, rather than testing memorized statutes or definitions.

1. Resources We Provide

We provide specific orientation materials to ensure you are familiar with the assessment format and administrative requirements before your appointment.

Sample Assessment and Rubric

Review this document to read a sample ethical scenario and see the grading matrix. This outlines the criteria for the four required essay components: Introductory Opinion, Consequences, Public Protection, and Solutions.

Preparation Guide

Access this guide for critical logistics. It includes:

  • Scheduling: You must use a desktop or laptop to register (mobile is not supported).
  • Test Center Rules: Review the list of prohibited items (smartwatches, phones) and ID requirements.
  • Interface Preview: Review the screen layout to locate the timer and navigation tools.

2. Independent Preparation

Since the assessment measures judgment, preparation involves aligning your mindset with moral and ethical standards rather than rehearsing specific answers.

  • Review Your Code of Ethics: Read the specific ethical standards relevant to your profession.
  • Review State Statutes: Re-read regulations regarding unprofessional conduct and boundary violations.
  • Engage in Reflective Self Assessment: Use other methods you find appropriate to improve your ability
to practice professional judgment, challenge assumptions, recognize potential blind spots, and process
    ethical information independently.

Note

Do not memorize these standards to recite them. Review them to understand the framework of public
protection you will need to apply to the scenarios.

3. Additional Support

If you are looking for more structured preparation or coaching, we can refer you to external providers who offer these services.

  • Request a Referral: Contact EBAS directly if you wish to be connected with an education provider who can offer additional assistance.
  • Note: These services are independent of EBAS. We provide referrals as a courtesy to licensees seeking further support.

A Note on Exam Integrity

Because EBAS measures authentic critical thinking, we do not provide study guides, answer keys, or coaching on specific scenarios. Providing materials to memorize would compromise the integrity of the assessment and the validity of your result.
