When a board’s order requires remedial education, the board can name EBAS Ethics Remedial Education to satisfy it. The licensee meets one-on-one with an independent consultant who has a regulatory background, and EBAS handles the registration, the payment, and the paperwork. Your board receives a written summary after each education session.
What an education session is
Each education session is one hour and virtual, with one licensee and one consultant. Consultants come from the regulatory side: former board members, registrars, board counsel, and investigators who have sat on the board’s side of a disciplinary process. Before the session, the consultant reviews the board’s correspondence and the licensee’s account of what happened, and the session works through that case against the category your board assigned, so the conversation is about the licensee’s own situation.
What your board receives
After each education session the consultant writes a summary of what was discussed, what the licensee raised, and how they engaged, and EBAS sends it to your board. The summary is a record of engagement. There is no score on it and no recommendation, and it is the only part of the session your board sees.
How the education sessions stay separate from the assessment
EBAS offers the education sessions, and an independent third-party consultant delivers them and sets their content. EBAS does not sit in on a session or evaluate how a licensee performs in one. Consultants have access only to what EBAS publishes, such as the scoring rubric and the sample assessment, and not to the assessment scenarios. A licensee who has taken education sessions takes the same assessment, scored the same way, as one who has not.
Before or after the assessment
An order can place the education sessions before the assessment or after it, or require them only if the licensee does not pass, followed by a retake. EBAS does not recommend one sequence over another, and the choice comes down to what your board wants the assessment to show.
An assessment first gives your board section-level detail before the education sessions begin, so the sessions and any other required education can focus on the sections that fell short. Education sessions first, with an assessment inside a defined window afterward, show your board where the licensee’s reasoning stands once the education requirement is complete.
For setting the assessment’s own completion window, see How to Write the Assessment Into a Board Order.
Writing it into an order
The order names three things: how many education sessions, the category they cover, and a window to complete them in. Education sessions book one hour at a time, so an order can require as many as the case calls for, and every education session produces a written summary. EBAS handles everything after that, including registration, payment, the introduction to a consultant, and the certificate of completion.

Talking through a specific case
A pre-order consultation is a short call to work through a specific case: which sequence fits, how many education sessions to require, and the language that goes in the order.
